To educate and inspire students about local wildlife, the importance of raptor conservation & how they can make a difference.
Format:
Local institutions (elementary & secondary)
1–1.5 hours in-class or in-gym workshop.
One-time visit or part of a series.
Offered during school hours or as part of after-school programming.
Activities:
Introduction to Raptors & Rescue: Presentation about who raptors are & what TWR does.
Live Ambassador Bird Encounter: Discuss bird’s story, adaptations, and threats.
Interactive Stations:
Feather ID table: Match feathers to birds.
X-ray matching game: Spot common injuries & guess the cause.
“Build a Nest” challenge: Work in teams using natural materials.
Conservation Activity: Make suet feeders, nest boxes (pre-cut kits), or “don’t feed the wildlife” posters.
